An Honest desire to Help
Story
The Live Scan Guy of AngelVetting is named Tim. He has been involved for years with after-school clubs. He has also worked teaching jobs. And, has adopted a child. Therefore, he himself has had to get many, many Live Scans done over the years. During these years, he’s been involved with helping various churches fill out applications with the California DOJ so that they can make requests for their volunteers to be fingerprinted.
Tim likes to help people.
Live Scan Helps Our Community
Tim was inspired to start a Live Scan service knowing he could help many churches and other institutions comply with the law, help other couples wanting to adopt, help schools needing to vet teachers, help businesses make sure people being hired are safe, and simply help anyone needing this kind of service. So he was inspired to start offering a Live Scan service.

AB506
California passed a law in 2021 called AB506, which requires background checks of those who work or volunteer with children over a certain number of hours. A Live Scan fingerprinting is typically part of that. Click here to read the text of AB506.
The What and Why of Live Scan
“Live Scan” refers to the technology. A Live Scan device collects fingerprints electronically. No ink is required. They are securely transferred to the California Department of Justice in order to search for records of arrests and prosecutions. Results are sent to the business, organization, or agency requesting the information. Reasons for a criminal background check include employment, professional certification, adoption, volunteering, and working with children.

Request for Live Scan Service
Who Needs a Live Scan
You need to get a Live Scan if a business/organization/agency has given you a document called a BCIA 8016 – Request for Live Scan Service (click here, see point #4).
As a business/organization/agency, you can issue the Request for Live Scan form to those you need to have fingerprint background checked. To do so, you must first apply with the DOJ to become an authorized applicant agency. See the California Office of Attorney General website (click here).
If you don’t have an account yet with the DOJ, you can’t issue the form. But, that’s something the Live Scan Guy can help you with too. Call, or scroll to the bottom of the Price page for information about consultation to help apply with the DOJ.
The Live Scan Guy is willing to travel anywhere in Northern California when the fingerprinting of multiple applicants is needed. Call (925) 698-7581 to discuss it.
Priority will always be given to you if you are the issuer of the BCIA 8016 – Request for Live Scan Service, especially if you need to have multiple people fingerprinted. Call if you need people fingerprinted, so it can be done quickly—where you are—rather than sending your applicants out to try to find a place that does Live Scans.
The Live Scan Guy will come to you. He wants to help you as soon as he can. Often, when you call, he can go to you immediately! Or, a time and place can be scheduled at your convenience!
